The Georgetown Senior Center provides a regular mid-day retreat for area seniors. The Center meets on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, September through June.

In the late morning, a Center-owned van transports our members from their homes to our meeting place. From 11:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., a skilled instructor leads seniors in light exercise and stretching. From 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., members enjoy a delicious home-cooked lunch, followed by an enrichment program (e.g., book talk, musical entertainment, current events discussion). The Center van takes the seniors home at 2:00 p.m.

The Center meets Monday, Wednesday and Friday from September through June at either St.John's Episcopal Church in Georgetown or St. Paul's Lutheran Church in upper NW, Washington, DC.

The seniors celebrate all major holidays at the Center - often with meals donated by area restaurants. For many years, members have enjoyed Thanksgiving feasts provided by 1789 Restaurant, Valentine's Day lunch provided by Martin's Tavern and a Spring Picnic sponsored by Long & Foster Realty.

At least once a month, the seniors embark on a field trip to a local site that they select. The outings may be educational (e.g., tour of an outdoor sculpture exhibit) or purely recreational (e.g., musical performance at St. Alban's Cathedral followed by lunch at a restaurant). Transportation is provided by the Center.
